The early settlers to the New World came with some rather … simplistic designs for clothing. Seeking to remain humble and puritan, their styles consisted mostly of black and white and unimpressive patterns. They weren’t looking to awaken passions, after all… just make sure that some crops grew well and they were readied for any possible witch attacks. Everyone knew that witches wore flashy clothes, after all!

But, despite the fact that the shirt, coat, pants, and… well… pretty much every aspect of the pilgrim clothes (with the possible exception of the sweet hat) are all pretty ignorable, we can hold some good thoughts in that their shoes at least paired well with everything they might wear! Who can argue with some crisp and polished Men’s Colonial Pilgrim Shoes, after all!? Matching flawlessly with any older time garb, these shoes manage to be comfortable, crafted of shiny black faux leather, and still give just enough of a shine with their gold buckle that they might have actually been the most luxurious item of the entire pilgrim attire!

Questions & Answers

Q: I normally wear a men's size 10 1/2 shoe. Which size should I order, medium or large? (1 Answer)

The medium covers shoe sizes 10 to 11, so a 10 1/2 falls right in that range and could work well. That said, since you're at the upper end of the medium, the large, which covers sizes 12 to 13, might give you a bit more comfort, so comparing your foot's heel-to-toe length against our chart measurements of 11 3/4 inches for medium and 12 1/4 inches for large is the surest way to choose.

Q: Can these shoes be worn with the Revolutionary War costume instead of high boots and still be considered acceptable for the costume? Boots are too hot and a huge added expense. I would use black above the knee socks to compensate. (1 Answer)

These shoes would work beautifully for a Revolutionary War look. The gold buckle and faux leather construction are spot-on for the period, and pairing them with black above-the-knee socks is exactly how colonial-era men actually dressed, so you'd be adding historical accuracy, not losing it.

Q: Are these shoes completely vegan or vegetarian? (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 15 August 2023
Monster Responds...
These shoes are made from faux leather, so no animal hides are used in the upper material. The buckle is decorative hardware, and our copy doesn't specify what it's made of, so if metal alloy composition matters to your decision, that's worth keeping in mind.

Q: What UK size is "Large"? (1 Answer)
Asked by Anonymous | 5 May 2023
Monster Responds...
UK shoe sizes run about one size lower than US, so the Large (US 12–13) would translate to roughly a UK 11–12.

Q: I wear a 9 size shoe which would indicate a small. Seems like that would be pretty tight on me? (1 Answer)
Asked by Art | 19 October 2020
Monster Responds...
A size 9 does land in the Small, which covers shoe sizes 8 to 9 and measures 11 inches heel to toe. That's the standard length for that size range, so it should fit a size 9 foot without being unusually tight. These slip on, so there are no laces to adjust, but the fit itself is based on standard shoe sizing.
