| Disclaimer – Angels Fancy Dress does not endorse excessive drinking, and would like to emphasise that this game can possibly be just as fun if played with non-alcoholic drinks (though caffeine-based beverages should be avoided).
Before You Begin Participants should divide themselves into two teams: Team Kate and Team Wills. The quantities of drinks that players will have to consume are: small drink (a mouthful); medium drink (half-a-glass); large drink (the whole glass, in one). Note that the Huw Edwards’ Right Royal Bonus Drinks (in honour of the esteemed BBC commentator, and in anticipation of his excellent ad-libs) will require the consumption of individual shots, so these should be prepared in advance and be close-at-hand. The game will commence from the moment Prince William arrives at Westminster Abbey, and the TV cameras first capture him on film. In the Abbey – Before Kate Arrives Every time Prince Harry is seen to crack a joke, both teams consume a medium drink. If Prince Harry is filmed outside Westminster Abbey having a crafty fag, both teams should have a large drink. If David Cameron shows up in a lounge suit rather than morning suit, both teams have a medium drink. If Prince Philip is seen to mouth something inappropriate, Team Kate should consume a large drink (see lip-reading rule in ‘Huw Edwards’ Right Royal Bonus Drinks’ below) Every time Kate Middleton’s mother smiles for longer than ten seconds, Team Wills must have a small drink. Every time a member of the Royal Family smiles on camera for longer than ten seconds, both teams should consume a small drink. Every time Queen is seen to smile for more than ten seconds, Team Kate should have a large drink. For every 5 minutes that Kate is late, Team Wills should have a small drink. Huw Edwards’ Right Royal Bonus Drinks – during the Service and beyond… Note – In the event of the viewers not watching the wedding on the BBC, the rules for the ad-libs below are transferred to the alternative network’s commentator. Each time Huw refers to a previous Royal Wedding, both teams should have a shot. If Huw refers to Kate Middleton’s new coat-of-arms appearing on the programme, Team Kate should have a shot. Each time Huw name-checks David Cameron, Nick Clegg, or Ed Miliband, both teams should have a shot. Each time Huw uses the word ‘Fairytale’, both teams should have a shot. Each time Huw tries to lip-read what people are saying, and has a stab at guessing, both teams should down a shot. Each time Huw feels the need to reference an historical date – “Westminster Abbey was built in…” “The Royal Carriage was first used in…” etc. – both teams should consume a shot. Each time Huw points out a celebrity arriving at the Abbey, both teams have a shot. If Huw has felt the need to point-out a showbiz guest, every time the camera subsequently lingers on the celebrity, both teams should down a small drink. In the Abbey – After Kate Arrives As she walks down the aisle, for every pew that Kate passes before William turns round, Team Kate should have a very small drink. For every pew that she passes after William has turned around, Team Wills should have a very small drink. During Kate’s reading of the wedding vows, Team Kate should consume a large drink. Likewise, during William’s reading of the wedding vows, Team Wills should consume a large drink. If the couple kiss and both have their eyes closed, both teams drink a large drink. If the couple kiss, but one party keeps their eyes open, only the team representing the person with eyes-closed is allowed the large drink. ***At this point, it is suggested that players should take a break until the newly-weds appear on the Buck House balcony***
On the balcony of Buckingham Palace If Kate steps onto the balcony first, Team Wills has a full drink. If William steps onto the balcony first, Team Kate has a full drink. When – and if – William and Kate kiss, both teams should have a full drink. If Kate waves to the crowd in a regal manner (like the Queen, arm extended with only wrist moving), Team Wills should have a large drink; if Kate waves to the crowd in a normal manner, Team Kate should have a large drink. It is suggested that both teams stop drinking at this point, and consider having a rest and |
