This gory information sheet features a bone sticking out through the skin.  You  could use a bit of shattered bone, but this could have a sharp edge, so do take care.  This wound could be applied to any joint you fancy, if you were trying this on one of the bigger limbs then a trip to your butcher may be required.  Roast any bones at a high temperature and then thoroughly clean them off.  As with all our guidance sheets you need to check instructions with specific products and use common sense!   We have used the Angels Cut Kit to make this wound.

This may take a bit of practice, but it has really upset the folks in the office, so have a go!

Start with a nice big roast chicken drumstick, eat up all of the chicken, scrape the bone clean, roast the bone and let it cool.  When the bone is completely cool saw through one end (leaving the joint and a wedge of bone).  We used a hacksaw, do take care cutting the bone, we used a vice.

You will not need the long section of bone - now thoroughly wash out the inside section of the small piece of bone, file off any sharp edges as this will be going next to your skin.

To start making the wound peel the wax from the pot and roll the wax into short sausage shapes (steps 1 and 2 of our bullet wound will show you how).  Over the models joint lay out the sections of wax to form the outer wall of the wound, we did this in 4 sections: do not worry if it takes you more.  The trick is not to overwork the wax.
Next, with a tiny amount of moisturiser on your finger blend in the outside edges of the wound, ensuring that the wax is firmly stuck to your skin.

Put your fingertip next to the outside of the wound and with the tool pull the inside edges up and over your finger, this gives a ragged edge. If you have a very small amount of moisturizer on your finger this will prevent the wax from sticking to it.

Add a thin line of spirit gum to the cut surfaces of the bone, then slip the bone section into the wound, pushing the end of it into the wax, you need to make the bone look like it is coming out of the skin.

Paint the skin at the bottom of the wound with deep red grease paint, this is also very effective if you pick out some of the pointed bits rising up from the inside of the wound.

wrist6.gif6 Optional Step
This step is optional, but we thought it gave a certain something to the whole event!  Add some bruising around the wound using a palette of water colours.  More information about bruising can be found on our black eye page.

wrist7.gif7 Optional Step
This is also an optional step; again we thought it made the whole thing more gruesome! Ugh! Take a couple of elastic bands and cut lengths of them to fit inside the open area of the wound.  Slip them into the wound and tuck the ends up against the wax and the bone.  You do not have to be too neat; when these are covered with blood they will give an appearance of tendons and bits of gristle

Using the dropper on the blood bottle paint the edge of the wound with blood and then fill in the gaps around the bone.  There is no need to fill the wound to the top with blood, if this was a real wound the blood would have run away, our blood will do the same and you will end up in a mess.
Next mix a little moisturizer with a bit of blood and daub globs of this on the bloody areas and onto the bone, this will glisten and look revolting!

If you add only small amounts of blood then this will run less.  The cut kit will make many of these wounds so practice.  You may find even more gruesome methods than we have developed.

Removal.  Scrape the wound away with the modeling tool, rub the whole area with cleansing cream or moisturizer and then wash with soap and water.
