Angels Fancy Dress has grown from comparatively modest beginnings as part of the world?s largest costumiers. We dress stars of film and TV, something that many claim to do and dont. Just look at extracts from our VISITORS BOOK they are all genuine visitors to OUR SHOP IN LONDON.
Officially, the company began in 1840 when Morris Angel founded the limited company that we know today (although roots of our company go much further back!). Morris started dealing in second-hand clothing and tailors samples from Saville Row. The shop became popular with actors, who at that time had to purchase their own costume for performances. Eventually the actors began to request the loan of costumes for the length of the play and this is where costume rental was born. Angels Fancy Dress is still based in our old shop in Shaftesbury Avenue.

We can supply one costume or many costumes for parties, or for special times like Halloween, Easter, Christmas, Valentines Day or anytime. All hire requests are handled during shop hours by a team of highly experienced costumiers. The standard of our hire costumes far exceed the usual fancy dress costume range, in quality and breadth of choice. Our costumiers are available to assist with selection or give inspiration! Working so closely with the film and TV industry you never know who you may bump into, we have costumed Shakespeare In Love, Titanic, Heartbeat and Dr Who. The same dressmakers and tailors that make costumes for Film and TV also make our Fancy Dress hire costumes.

Angels is not just a trading name for the business, it remains a family company, still under the ownership of the Angel family with the 5th generation running the company and three members of the 6th generation also working in the company.
